Summit participants can express their interest in participating in the Social Impact project on the Summit Registration Form. After submitting your Registration for the Summit, our team will get in touch with you sending you a detailed Application Form (about your experiences, areas of interest).
Connecting the international and local experts and communities/organizations starts in February 2010 on the Summit’s website. The profiles of Development Practitioners and local non-profit organizations/communities with their expertise/interests and needs will be posted on the site and connections can be made directly between the three parties:
- international consultants
- organization/community development professionals from Central and Eastern Europe
- local communities and non-profit organizations of the Region
Each project will be assigned with a local volunteer co-coordinator to facilitate the communication and co-ordination of events.
Virtual communication, needs assessment and pre-work will be ongoing until August 2010.
The interventions will take place a few days before the Summit. The participants can further develop their mutual learning into new ways of thinking and new methodologies. These will be brought back and presented as case studies at the Summit while establishing a dialogue with the participants and further develop our professional experience.
Participating in the Social Impact Project offers the following advantages for the international participants:
- Using your knowledge to make a real impact in the Region
- Cross-cultural learning by working together with a local OD or Community Development Practitioner
- Meeting local people, getting to know more about local culture and issues
- An opportunity to further develop methodology and practice working on real issues
- Participating in a dialog during the Summit and presenting case studies
Participating in the Social Impact Project offers the following advantages for NGOs and communities:
- an opportunity to work together with organizational/community development experts with years of solid professional experience
- development intervention - free of charge
- a chance to gain new ideas, viewpoints and impulses from international experience
- benefiting from the cooperation of a local and international expert
- a chance to get firsthand experience with the international methodologies of organizational and community development
- taking part in the conference, and getting involved in the pooling of experience and development of new and existing methodologies

We are Organizational and Community Development Practitioners! Our mission is to improve the quality of the lives of the people around us. Within the framework of the ODWS we emphasize Social Awareness and Responsibility, not only during the conference but throughout the organizational process as well.
Beyond the mutual learning, the World Summit offers a chance for the participants to learn about other nations’, organizations’ and individuals’ efforts on the field of Social Awareness and Responsibility through dialogues and different actions.

The end of the Summit doesn’t mean the end of our mutual learning. The results, developments and new methodologies brought about by our local and international experts will be presented with case studies at the conference. To ensure that our findings reach an even wider audience, the Social Impact Team will prepare a final report summarizing the events, developments and results of the social Impact project. The document will be available for download on the ODWS website. Following the conference in 2011, we are planning to set up a Workshop of Organizational and Community Development Practitioners, where we aim to further define the common points and the interoperability of the two fields and assess our experiences during the ODWS.
